King Street Bluegrass are 2021 Wammie award finalists, with blues, folk, and country influences. Although based in DC, the members have rural, farm and coal miner family roots, from the mountains of West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Southern Virginia. They have been entertaining audiences with familiar bluegrass, country, Americana and original tunes since 2008.

The West Point, Mississippi native grew up against a backdrop of competing priorities. Stevens’ father was a small-town lawyer and his mother was an accomplished church singer and pianist. When Stevens was in high school, his older brother Rogers was selling millions of records as guitarist for Blind Melon. Guess which career path won out for JM? In a bid for spontaneity, Stevens knocked out the basic tracks for Invisible Lines, his solo debut, with bassist Andrew Duplantis (Son Volt, Bob Mould, Meat Puppets) and drummer George Duron (Roky Erickson, Jon Dee Graham, Dumptruck) in just one day. Critics say this album recalls records from the Jayhawks, Drive-by Truckers and Uncle Tupelo.

No Part of Nothin’ plays bluegrass and classic country songs featuring tight harmonies, great stories, original songwriting, and virtuoso lead work by some of the region’s best bluegrass pickers. This band is everywhere, from festival stage to local clubs and restaurants, plus airplay on Bluegrass Country Radio, The Bluegrass Jamboree, and WAMU's Open Mic Program. . They were named a Wammie (Washington Area Music Award) 2021 finalist for best bluegrass band, and were also nominated as finalists in 2020.

Her musical inspiration is drawn from various mystical traditions from around the world, including Sufi Quawalli music, Hindu devotional music (bhajans), Native American medicine music, reggae, and music coming from the Jewish mystical tradition (aka the Kabbalah). Carmelle believes all mystical traditions point to love, compassion, harmony, humility and respect.

Chris grew up in Annandale, VA listening to the sounds of country music radio on WMZQ, 98.7. Influenced by classic country musicians such as Willie Nelson, George Strait, George Jones and Merle Haggard, Chris began to learn guitar at an early age, teaching himself to play and sing the songs of his country music heroes. He played music in his early 20’s at Tiffany Tavern, a historic country/bluegrass venue in Alexandria, VA. In 2003, Chris became a Mid-Atlantic champion for “Nashville Star”, a nationally televised talent show. In 2013 Chris moved to San Antonio, TX playing music with some of the best musicians in South Texas. In 2019 back in VA, Chris cultivated expertise of his long-time friends and professional musicians Wil Gravatt and Paul Royce Koch, and released a single in 2019 titled “Ain’t Enough Roses in Texas”, on Wilevja record label.
